How it works
Rules
openrank.bid is the premium directory where indie products hold the top spots. Featured placements sit above the free directory, and every listing can earn a dofollow backlink. The rules below are the whole system.
Featured placements
- A featured placement pins your product above the free directory. You choose the amount a spot is worth to you. The highest amount holds the highest position.
- If another featured product commits a larger amount, it takes the higher position. To move your own listing up, enter the same URL with a higher amount. You only ever pay the difference.
- Equal amounts go to whoever committed first. An earlier placement stays above a later one at the same amount.
- While a placement is being processed, the amount is briefly reserved so two people cannot quietly claim the same spot. Unpaid reservations expire automatically.
- Featured placements always include a dofollow link, no badge required.
The free directory
- Listing is free and instant: no account, no payment, no review queue. Free listings appear below the featured placements, newest first.
- Name and description are pulled from your site automatically, and you pick a category and an optional X handle.
- Submitting a URL that's already listed refreshes its details instead of creating a duplicate. One project, one listing.
- Free listings stay up indefinitely. They don't expire and don't cost anything.
Badge & dofollow links
- Every featured placement includes a dofollow link automatically.
- Free listings include a link to your site. If you embed our badge on your site, that link becomes dofollow. A free backlink, both directions.
- After adding the badge, hit “Verify” and we scan your page for the link back. Verified listings show a dofollow badge in the directory.
- The badge page must be on the same domain as the listed site. Badges on unrelated sites don't count.
- We re-verify badge links periodically. If the badge disappears, the link quietly downgrades to nofollow, with no other penalty.
Payments
- Payments are processed securely through Dodo Payments. We never see or store your card details.
- Your listing goes live the moment payment confirmation reaches us, usually seconds after checkout, not on a review queue.
- If a payment fails or the checkout is abandoned, the reserved spot is released and nothing is charged.
- All payments are final. Because a featured placement immediately takes a public position, we do not offer refunds once the payment has been confirmed.
URLs
- Tracking parameters (utm_*, ref, and similar) are stripped automatically before your listing is stored.
- Shortened or disguised links are rejected. One project, one canonical URL.
What belongs here
- Indie products, side projects, and SaaS
- Official project websites
- Open-source projects
- Anything you would defend in public
What does not belong
- Invite or chat links (Discord, Telegram, etc.)
- Adult content
- Affiliate or tracking-heavy URLs
- Spam, scams, or misleading landing pages
Listings that break these rules can be removed without notice.
